QUO presents We Are One: Florence Price, Chabrier, Glazunov
Saturday, February 24 at 7:15 PM
For the third installment in QUO’s “We Are One” season, we present the Third Symphony of Florence Price, the first African-American woman to be recognized as a symphonic composer. We’ll also play Emmanuel Chabrier’s “España”, and 2018 QUO Concerto Competition winner Brian Shaw will perform the solo in Alexander Glazunov’s Saxophone Concerto with QUO’s strings.
Doors open a few minutes before 7:15 when we’ll have our usual pre-concert chat with QUO artistic director Julie Desbordes and QUO assistant conductor Ian Shafer (who will conduct the Glazunov), this time joined by soloist Brian Shaw. Our concessions bar will also be open then, and we’ll start the music at 8pm as usual. The concert is at the usual place, the Church of the Holy Apostles, 296 9th Avenue at West 28th Street.
Tickets are $25 at the door and $15 for students and seniors. Get $20 discount tickets when you order in advance at www.queerurbanorchestra.or
