The Houston Pride Band was formed by a small group of musicians in 1978 as a way to make new friends and provide entertainment for Houston’s gay and lesbian community. Originally known as the Montrose Marching Band, the band has grown through the years and now provides an annual season of concerts as well participating in the city’s annual Pride celebrations. Houston Pride Band is a founding member of the Lesbian and Gay Band Association (LGBA), a national musical organization made up of over thirty bands across the nation and around the world.
