An Evening of Music that is Fit for a Queen!
London Gay Symphonic Winds Presents: Fit For A Queen
October 7th at 7.30pm
With less than a week to go before LGSW’s next concert, we thought we’d whet your appetite with a few more details about the music we are performing next Saturday.
Fit For A Queen includes some fantastic film music, taking you from the battlefields of Agincourt with Patrick Doyle’s incredible music for Kenneth Branagh’s Henry V, and then transporting you to the Highlands of Scotland with music from Disney’s Brave. (It’s an LGSW concert, so we had to get some Disney in there somewhere!)
The evening will be bookended by two dramatic and evocative pieces written specifically for wind bands: Philip Sparke’s Jubilee Overture and Guy Woolfenden’s Gallimaufry. Both pieces are real celebrations of just how good wind ensembles can sound, and we can’t wait to bring them to you.
And, of course, we are performing some show tunes – because everyone loves show tunes right? So fasten your seatbelts for a spin and a twirl through Rogers and Hammerstein’s The King and I.
The event will be hosted by the magnificent and hilarious Cally Beaton, and will be one to remember.
Fit For A Queen takes place at 7.30pm on October 7th at St. Sepulchre Without Newgate, High Holborn, EC1A 2DQ.
Tickets are £7.50 in advance, or £10 on the door.
